Pre-Treatment Care for Fat Dissolving Injections

Fat-dissolving injections are a minimally invasive treatment. So, there isn’t a lot of pre-treatment care involved. Here are a few things to be mindful 

Before Your Treatment:

• • Avoid Alcohol: Refrain from consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours before your treatment.
  • Avoid Blood-Thinning Medications: Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen, or other blood-thinning medications for at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.
  • Hydration: Drink at least 2 litres of water the day before your treatment.
  • Avoid Sun Exposure: Minimise sun exposure and avoid tanning beds for at least a week before your treatment.

After Your Treatment:

After treatment there may be slight redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness or itching in the in the treated area. This is a normal result of the product/injection – the inconvenience is temporary and generally disappears in a day or two. Small lumps may also occur and will go over a few days. • Numbness and Reduced Sensation: These can occur in the treated area and may persist for several weeks to months but will resolve spontaneously over time.
• Tenderness: The area may remain tender for several weeks. You can take Paracetamol or Codeine, but avoid anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen.
• Allergic Reactions: Rarely, small lumps the size of a 1p piece may form. If this happens, please contact us for advice.
• Swelling and Bruising: Apply an ice pack to reduce initial swelling. Massaging Arnica gel into the area 3-4 times a day can also help, as can wearing a compression garment.
• Risk of Herpes: If you have a history of facial herpes, there's a risk of another eruption (cold sores, etc.).
• Avoid Washing and Heat Exposure: Do not wash the treated area or take a hot shower for 8 hours after treatment. Avoid intense heat (sunbeds, sauna, sunbathing) and extreme cold. If sun exposure is unavoidable, wear SPF 50.
• Exercise: Avoid heavy exercise for 48 hours after treatment to prevent sweating, which can reduce the treatment’s effectiveness.

Who Should Avoid Fat Dissolving Injections?

1. Pregnant or Breastfeeding Women:

   • Not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

2. Individuals with Severe Health Conditions:

   • Not suitable for those with severe health issues such as uncontrolled diabetes, active infections, or autoimmune diseases.

3. Allergic Reactions:

   • Those with known allergies to the ingredients used in the fat dissolving solution should avoid this treatment.

4. Skin Infections or Conditions:

   • Individuals with active skin infections or conditions in the treatment area should wait until these issues are resolved.
